Research

Her research activity focuses on the development of multi-residue analysis of emerging contaminants in aqueous and solid environmental matrices, from sampling to results interpretation, through the optimization of sample preparation and liquid or gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. More precisely, her current main topics are: (i) Fate of surfactants and biocides in surface waters and sediments (ii) Detection of emerging pollutants, pesticides and pharmaceuticals, in groundwater impacted by infiltration systems (iii) Presence of veterinary antibiotics in sludge and manure, and the impact of their spreading on soils.

Biography

Laure Wiest studied Chemistry at the Ecole Supérieure de Chimie Physique Electronique de Lyon (CPE Lyon, school of engineering), where she graduated in 2005. During her studies, she worked one year as a trainee engineer, at the Ian Wark Research Institute (University of South Australia) in the development of a manganese filter for water treatment, based on Self-Assembled Monolayers. She joined the Institute of Analytical Sciences (ISA) in 2006, after a one-year traineeship on the development of an analytical method of antibiotics in honeys.
She is a Research Engineer in chemical analysis of the research team TRACES of ISA, specialized in the analysis of micropollutants in environmental matrices by chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. She has co-authored 40 peer-reviewed publications. She coordinated a FEAGA project dealing with honeybees contamination by pesticide and is part of several collaborative projects funded by ANR and OFB as a work package leader.
