Christian Amatore will give a lecture “Activated species of Oxygen and Nitrogen, Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress: from the Best (protection of the body) … to the Worst (inflammations, autoimmune diseases and cancers)” on the Jannuary 21, 2010 at the Institute for Analytical Sciences (11 am)
Christian Amatore, Research Director emeritus at ENS Paris and member of the Academy of Science, has had a pioneering role in molecular electrochemistry and specifically in the development of ultramicroelectrodes worldwide. His research involves the development of advanced electrochemical methods for investigating extremely complex mechanisms of organic and organometallic chemistry as well as biological mechanisms. His recent research works focuse on oxidative stress and free radicals as well as on the phenomenon of vesicular exocytosis of neurotransmitters.

Christian Amatore is also member of the Brazilian Academiy of Sciences and the Chinese Academiy of Sciences. He has received many awards and honors, including France’s CNRS Silver Medal, The Society for Electroanalytical Chemistry’s Reilley Award, the RSC Bourke Medal and the Volta Medal.
