The pooled R&D Resources is specialized in the following fields:
Thermal Analysis
Institute of Analytical Sciences (ISA) has deep expertise in thermal analysis, especially on polymers: from the study of the mass evolution for different materials during their design to the degradation during the heating, through the study of the polymerization or degradation of different types of compounds.
Gases and VOCs Analysis
ISA was one of the first laboratories to develop methods of coupling thermogravimetry with GC-MS. Besides, ISA has thermal desorption online coupling with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (TD-GC-MS) since 1995.
Our staff has the know-how in VOCs and gas analysis to address complex studies on the degradation of polymers, on the gas emission by different ecosystems and on the COVs released by industrial chimneystacks.
Size-Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)
SEC is a chromatographic method usually applied to long molecules or complex macromolecules (such as proteins and polymers) soluble in aqueous or organic phases. At ISA, SEC is also used as a preparative method (ie. for molecules separation in complex matrices, for characterization by Maldi-ToF…)
Our staff currently works with ISA researchers on systems miniaturization (monolithic columns) as well as on portable and highly sensitive micro/nano-bio sensors development for gases and VOCs analysis.
Furthermore, collaborative projects are underway with academic and industrial partners. (see projects page)
