Research

The main objective of our work is to enable researchers in chemistry and biology to use nuclear magnetic resonance as a routine tool in order to obtain a structural and dynamic characterisation of chemical or biological systems of primary importance, from new materials to complex biological systems, such as metalloproteins and large biological assemblies of high molecular weigh.
Through the design of a set of innovative and powerful solid-state NMR tools, we overcome the current barriers to progress in the understanding of these systems, and shed light onto their local and global structures, dynamics, reactivity, and substrate recognition.

Biography

Dr. Guido Pintacuda studied Chemistry at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa (Italy), where he graduated in 1997, and then completed his PhD in 2000 with Prof. L. Di Bari and P. Salvadori. After working with Prof. G. Otting in Stockholm and Canberra, he moved to the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, where he is a CNRS Research Director (Full Professor) since 2009. His current research concerns the development of new solid-state NMR methods for complex molecular systems in chemistry and biology, mostly with the help of paramagnetic metal ions.
He is the author of more than 70 publications and 60 communications in national and international journals.
