Research

Aurélien Cuchet is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Hervé Casabianca and Patrick Jame. His research focuses on the development of analytical methods and databases to control the authenticity (purity, naturalness) of essential oils. The project includes method development with several analytical techniques, such as enantioselective Multi-Dimensional Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (MDGC-MS) and Gas Chromatography – Combustion (or Pyrolysis) – Isotope-ratio mass spectrometry (GC-C/P-IRMS).
This CIFRE PhD thesis is funded by Albert Vieille, a company specializing in natural aromatic raw materials.

Biography

Aurélien Cuchet graduated in 2017 from both the École Supérieure de Chimie Physique Électronique (CPE Lyon engineer diploma (MSc) in chemistry – process engineering) and the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (Master degree in analytical chemistry).
He worked in 2016 during one year in United Kingdom in AstraZeneca, a pharmaceutical company, and did his 6 months master final project from March to September 2017 in Sanofi before started to work for Albert Vieille in November 2017, first as a research associate in analytical chemistry, then for doctoral studies (CIFRE Thesis) under the supervision of Hervé Casabianca in the Natural and Biobased Products research group and the supervision of Patrick Jame (co-advisor) from the isotopic & organic platform.
